Alexander Piur

Alexander is the global lead for the sustainability, focusing on transition and climate risk related challenges for the Wholesale Banking (WB) Sector “Real Estate and Infrastructure” of ING, the global bank with European roots. In his role he is directing the transitioning of the lending activities of commercial real estate towards 1.5-degree alignment by 2050, introduces measures to manage physical and transition risk or aligns with policy makers and external stakeholders to ensure the decarbonization and resilience of the Real Estate and Infrastructure business. In his role together with other sustainability leaders of ING he engages with organizations like UNEPFI or WEF and explores opportunities to cooperate with the PropTech industry. Alexander has been an experienced real estate banker for 25 years and has held several positions in Risk Management, Portfolio Management and Origination of Real Estate transactions in multiple banks. He is also Co-Chair of the Finance Committee of the ZIA (German Property Federation) and regular speaker on real estate events. Alexander holds a master’s degree in real estate from the University of Regensburg and a bachelor’s degree of Finance and Management of Frankfurt School.
